How to Make a Dreamcatcher

Since my dreamcatcher workshop at Free People back in April, I gotten several requests to host dreamcatcher parties, and to do a DIY blog post, so I decided to do an illustrative post going step by step! Everything on the supply list below, is available at Michael's (don't forget your coupon!), A.C. Moore, and pretty much any other craft store. If you do this DIY, please send your finished products to awakeningbohemia@gmail.com. -I'd love to see them!

Intimates for Fall

Fall is my favorite season as far as clothing. Sweaters...boots...and layering. It can be hard transitioning from cutoffs to chunky knits, however, incorporating a bit of that Summer sensibility can help ease the pain. Pick a new or favorite intimate piece, like a floral romper or lacy bralette, and layer them with a chunky sweater or tank top. Add tall socks, fringed boots, a fun hip belt and a necklace or two to complete the outfit.

P.S. Experiment with color. Mix summery brights with subtle neutrals to soften your look.

Free People July 2014 Catalog Sneak Peek

July is the month when everyone's thoughts are in the cooler days of Fall, fashion-wise.
This year is centered around subtle 90's touches like slip dresses, plaid and chunky proportions, along with touches of menswear, which add a tougher sensibility, while also keeping in tune with bohemian accents of layered western inspired jewelry. I can't wait!

London Bound

Today is my last final, finally! (no pun intended) Tomorrow I will be headed to the Free People Home Office for a special project, and then running home to finish packing and hopping on a plane to London. All good things! I am hoping to post every couple of days about my trip, as long as I have wifi, and will be posting a few other exciting things! I hope everyone has a great weekend! xx

Spring Awakening Event at Free People Walnut St

The night for me started a few hours prior to the event.  Kelly from the store and I arranged tables and a comfy seating area in the loft, overlooking the rest of the store. I adorned the tables with fake flowers, glass jars full of beads, sari ribbon yarns in every color piled high like a pyramid, and other supplies. As soon as six o’clock came around, people started pouring in. A line soon formed down the long staircase, as I walked around instructing the workshop.  Everyone had smiles on their faces while sipping juice, chatting, and wrapping sari ribbon around hoops. Some strung beads on to ribbon for fringe, while others covered theirs in bright flowers. Both girls and guys confidently held their creations up from their fingers for pictures posted on Instagram. My friends and family came and patted me on the back in awe of the crowd they stood in the midst of.  I was amazed at the turnout.

You can see more pictures and the rest of my interview on the BLDG25 Blog! :)

Free People May Catalog - Pura Vida

I'm so frazzled with how beautiful this catalog is, that I don't know what to say. This has to be in my top three catalogs if not number one. I have wanted Free People to do a full out mermaid-esqe catalog on location somewhere, and they did. What's even better is a shawl I helped make is featured. The catalog was shot in Costa Rica (totally love it there!) and each picture is flawless. Go ahead and drool. haha!
