My friend Alaina at school and I were talking once about how messy my dorm is. Honestly, I don't even know how it happens. I guess I'm slightly ADD. I will start a project, and five minutes later, be inspired to start another and so on. It's like a domino effect. Soon enough, the clutter has taken over my space. Alaina calls my messiness my 'Process.' The term has been something that has been popping up in my mind for some time now, and when she said it, it clicked.
The Process is everything. It is the birth and creation of something new, it is the time spent after the initial idea, and before our decision to stop. It is making mistakes, and figuring something new out while what seems like aimless wandering...screwing up, re-doing, erasing, ripping, patching, sewing. The Process is the humanity behind every project, an is what I am most interested in capturing in my Artist Spotlight posts. The most interesting part of art to me is the collective span of time before the end result. The part that is not obvious or even spoken about.
