Eclectic Mix

I am very much an introvert, and I get overwhelmed spending too much time with friends and family. There is something very intimate about music. Just you and a song. I have a pretty wide variety of artists I listen to from Keith Urban and Miranda Lambert to those like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Lissie, and Ingrid Michaelson. Some of my other favorites include Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Taylor Swift. I often think of them as friends that go with me everywhere.

 I am the only person I know who still buys actual cds. I have a bunch of friends who buy trendy vinyls, but I have always had a fascination for design and physicality. I like having the actual cd to play on my stereo and I LOVE booklets. I think they are the thing that I look forward to most about getting a new cd. There is also something so electric about the anticipation while biting through the corner of plastic and trying to peel off the damn sticker strip at the top. It is so satisfying to me about seeing a long row of my jewel cases lined up on a shelf. An accomplishment of sorts. Of course, I do buy songs on iTunes, but if I intend on buying an entire album, I will find the physical copy at Target, Barnes and Noble or on Amazon. I don't know, maybe I'm a little dated, but I like what I like!

Snow Day Part 2

It is snowing heavily again in the city...4-6" expected (!!). Today I am inspired by the milky, soft images floating around Pinterest and HoneyPieLiving. I feel extra peaceful and unconcerned, even though I have finals and final critiques this week and next. What will happen will happen, and as long I prepare as well as I can, the outcome should be decent. Take a few minutes today to look at some beautiful photography on your favorite sites, whether it is this one or another, and listen to some new tunes...below are a few of my favorites!

Britney Jean

Britney Spears' new album, Britney Jean, came out today and while I'm listening to it on repeat with my earbuds in, I thought that it would be an appropriate time to dedicate a post to her. Britney has been someone I've been listening to since I was in Kindergarten. I remember getting her Oops...I Did It Again album for Christmas, getting Baby One More Time from my Aunt as a 'just because' gift, and going to Target with my Mom for her self titled album when it came out in 2001. The fellow Free People lover has had her ups and downs but always comes out strong and makes new music. She has been with me through boomboxes, stereos, walkmen and iPods...I have never seen her in concert before, but plan to someday. Until then, I will watch her old concerts on Youtube and listen to her cds. :)

Transitional // Traditional

Today is my my last day of classes, and tomorrow I go home for Thanksgiving break. It's crazy to think this year is almost over. Here's to transitional days!
